What the first build ships

The site, documents and plan the first build produces, for a new business, a software product, or a website for a business you already run.

What the first build produces depends on what you're building. Willo works that out from your description, and confirms it with you if you plan first, then follows one of three tracks. Each ends with a live website and a roadmap.

A new business

The full track, for an idea that doesn't exist yet:

  • Market intelligence brief: competitors, market size and what your audience struggles with.
  • A business name, chosen to be brandable, if you don't have one.
  • Business model: who it's for, how it makes money, how it reaches customers, and the risks.
  • Brand positioning guide: headlines, value proposition and voice.
  • Mission statement.
  • Three or four strategic goals, tied to the business model.
  • A launch roadmap: four to six milestones and their tasks across product, content, marketing, research, revenue and operations.
  • A live landing page, built at the same time as the documents. Add pages in chat, or choose a full site build when you plan with Willo first.

A software product or app

A lighter track that gets you to a working product sooner:

  • Focused product research, a product name and brand.
  • One product brief instead of the separate business documents, and the roadmap. No goals are set; that is on purpose.
  • A landing page, sign-in pages and the app's first two or three screens.

Sign-up and sign-in work for real from the start, on a backend Willo sets up for the business. The main screen reads from a real table in that backend, filled with demo rows you can clear. The other screens show sample data until you connect them, in chat, screen by screen: "make the bookings screen use real data".

A website for a business you already run

For a business that exists and needs a site:

  • Research into how comparable businesses present themselves.
  • One brand positioning guide and the roadmap, weighted toward content and search. No goals, no market brief, and your business keeps its name.
  • A website of four to six pages: home, about, contact, and pages for what you sell.
  • A working contact form. Submissions are stored in your business's own backend; ask Willo in chat to show you them.

In every case

  • A live site at your business's bywillo.ai address, and the code in a repository you can read (see Your code).
  • Documents you can open as cards in chat, and later in Assets → Documents.
  • A welcome email when it's done.

The first build usually takes 5 to 15 minutes in all.

After the first build

Everything from here is ordinary chat work: new pages, a redesign, wiring the app to real data, content, email. See Work with Willo and Add a page.

If the build seems stuck, see How builds run.
