Set a goal and let Willo plan against it

Give Willo a measurable goal, have it build milestones and tasks to reach it, decide what it does on its own, and track progress as the work lands.

This guide turns something you want, such as more bookings or a first wholesale customer, into a goal Willo works towards, with a plan you can see and adjust.

1. Write the goal

A goal Willo can plan against is specific and measurable, with a sense of when. Compare:

VaguePlannable
Get more customers20 paying customers by the end of March
Grow the newsletter1,000 newsletter subscribers in six months
Do better on GoogleRank on the first page for "dog groomer Leeds"

Tell Willo in chat, with any context that matters:

"New goal: 20 paying customers for the grooming subscription by the end of March. Most of our customers find us through Instagram and word of mouth. I can spend about two hours a week on this myself."

Willo adds the goal. It shows on Business → Overview under Active Goals, at 0%.

If you already have three or four active goals, consider pausing one. A few goals get done; a long list gets spread thin.

2. Ask for the plan

"Plan against that goal. Add milestones and tasks to the roadmap."

Willo looks at your existing roadmap, your other goals and your business context, then adds:

  • milestones along the way, linked to the new goal, with target dates,
  • tasks under them, each with a category, impact and effort scores, and dates.

Tasks only a person can do (setting up an account, calling a supplier, adding real customer reviews) are flagged as needing you.

3. Review and adjust

Open Business → Roadmap. The timeline view shows the milestones in order; the board and list views show the tasks.

  • Too much, too fast? Change the dates on the Roadmap page itself: open a task or milestone and edit it. Willo can re-prioritise tasks, but it can't move their dates.
  • Wrong priority? "The Google Business profile matters more than the blog posts. Move it up."
  • Not doing that? Skip the task on the Roadmap page, or tell Willo.
  • Something missing? Add a task on the Roadmap page, or ask Willo to.

4. Decide what runs on its own

Willo works on roadmap tasks in two ways:

  • When you ask. In any conversation: "let's do the next task on the roadmap".
  • On its own, if the Growth Engine is on. It picks the next ready task, does it, and records the outcome, skipping anything that needs you. It is off until you turn it on in Settings → Autonomy (paid plans), where you also set a daily spending limit.

If tasks include blog posts, decide whether the Growth Engine may publish them or only draft them for you. See Who publishes content.

5. Track progress

  • Business → Overview shows the goal's progress bar. Willo updates progress as work lands; you can also tell it: "we're at 12 customers now".
  • Business → Activity shows each task Willo worked on, with a summary of the outcome. Tasks the Growth Engine runs are marked complete as it finishes them; mark the ones you did, or worked on with Willo in chat, complete on the Roadmap page.
  • The tasks flagged as needing you sit on the roadmap until you do them. Mark them complete on the Roadmap page when you have.

When you reach the goal, tell Willo, or set progress to 100%, and it is marked completed. If the goal stops mattering, ask Willo to pause or cancel it so the planning stops pulling towards it.
