How Stripe Connect works

The two kinds of Stripe account Willo connects, what each dashboard shows, who owns the money, the fees, and how revenue and customers are read.

Willo's payments run on Stripe Connect. Your business gets a real Stripe account, and the money it takes is paid out to your bank by Stripe. Willo creates products and checkout links on that account and reads its revenue and customers for you.

What an Express dashboard shows

The Express dashboard shows your balance and payouts. Stripe's Payments, Customers and Products pages, API keys and webhooks come with a Standard account. On an Express account you see products, revenue and customers through Willo: ask in chat, or open Business → Revenue.

Fees

Willo takes no platform fee on payments your business collects. Stripe charges its processing fees, which depend on your country and the payment method; Stripe's pricing page has them.

What Willo does on the account

  • Creates products with one fixed price, one-time or recurring (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly), optionally with a free trial, and returns a permanent checkout link. Willo asks you to confirm before it creates one.
  • Reads revenue: totals over a window you name, 30 days by default.
  • Reads customers: who has paid.
  • Lists products already set up.

Revenue and customer details are personal and financial data, so only owners and admins can ask for them, in chat or from an AI agent.

Willo never adds a webhook endpoint to your own Stripe account. An endpoint in your Stripe dashboard's webhook list was added by you, or built on your backend at your request.

Prices a fixed product can't express

A Willo-created product has one price. It can't charge a different amount per order, such as a quote, a booking priced by length, or a marketplace fee on top of a rate.

  • On a Standard account, Willo can build a checkout for per-order amounts on your backend, using a restricted Stripe key you enter in a secure form (never in chat) and a webhook you add in Stripe.
  • On an Express account there is no key to use. To get per-order pricing, replace Express with your own Standard account: disconnect under Settings → Connections, then connect again with I already have a Stripe account. Let the Express balance pay out first, and replace its buy links afterwards.

One Stripe account, several businesses

You can connect the same existing Stripe account, with I already have a Stripe account, to more than one Willo business. Their products and revenue then share that one Stripe dashboard, and disconnecting it from one business removes Willo's access to that Stripe account for all of them. A new Express account belongs to one business. Use a separate Stripe account per business if you want them kept apart.

Disconnecting

Settings → Connections, then Disconnect this Stripe account on the Stripe Connect card. Only owners and admins can. Disconnecting stops Willo creating products and reading revenue. The Stripe account itself stays yours, with its balance, which Stripe still pays out.

Payment processor

Willo's built-in payments run on Stripe. If Stripe doesn't serve your country, Willo can still run your site, content, member accounts and email, and place a payment link you already have from another provider on the site.
