Switch on the Growth Engine

What the Growth Engine is, which plans include it, how to switch it on under Settings → Autonomy, and where to see what it did.

The Growth Engine is Willo working on your business when you are not in the chat. Every hour it can pick the most useful task from the business's roadmap, do it, and log what it did: a blog post drafted, a page's SEO tightened, a competitor researched. It works from your goals and the business's own data.

It comes with the Starter plan and up. On Free, Willo only works when you ask it in chat.

It starts switched off

A new business's Growth Engine is paused. Nothing runs on its own until an owner or admin switches it on. If Willo has never done anything without being asked, that is why.

Switch it on

  1. In your business, open Settings in the left rail, then Autonomy.
  2. On the Growth Engine card, click Resume growth. The badge changes to active.
  3. Check the Autonomous-spend budget card below it. Daily budget (credits) caps what the engine may spend in a day. A new business starts on a default; change it and click Save.
  4. Under What the Growth Engine works on, untick any kind of work you don't want it to do on its own.

You need to be an owner or admin of the organisation, or an admin of this business, to change these.

What it works on

Kind of workFor example
ContentBlog posts, pages, copy
MarketingSEO, landing pages, campaigns
ProductCode changes to your app or site
ResearchMarket and competitor research
RevenuePricing and conversion work
OperationsProcess and housekeeping

At least one kind stays ticked. Content it writes is saved as a draft unless auto-publish is switched on for that collection, so you review it before it reaches the site.

See what it did

Open Business in the left rail, then Activity. Open an entry and it says By Growth Engine when the engine did it: the tasks it ran and the files it changed. Skim it before deciding nothing is happening.

You can also ask Willo in chat: "What did the Growth Engine do this week?"

Give it something to work on

The engine plans from the roadmap and your goals. The quickest way to steer it is to tell Willo in chat what matters this month, or to add tasks to the roadmap yourself. See Steer the Growth Engine.

Pause it

Click Pause growth on the same card. Scheduled work stops; Willo's chat keeps working when you ask.
