Add a page

Ask Willo for a new page on your site, give it what it needs to get the page right the first time, and check it before it goes live.

New pages are chat work: you describe the page, and Willo writes it in your site's design, adds it to the navigation and rebuilds the site. It uses credits, like other work that changes the site.

1. Ask for the page

Open Site and tell Willo what the page is for. The more it knows, the less you'll revise:

  • What the page is for and who reads it. "A pricing page for small studios comparing our three packages."
  • The address you want, if it matters: "at /pricing".
  • What must be on it: the real prices, the questions customers actually ask, a booking link.
  • Where it should be linked from: the main menu, the footer, a button on the home page.

Willo only puts real content on a page. It won't invent testimonials, client logos, ratings or figures, so give it the ones you have, or tell it to leave those sections out.

For a large or unclear request, Willo lays out a short plan in the chat first, then builds. For a clear one it just builds.

2. Watch it build

Willo writes the page file, links it where you asked, and rebuilds. The preview blurs while the rebuild runs, usually two to five minutes. When it is done, Willo says what it made and where.

3. Check it

In the preview, open the new page from the menu or link, and check it on the phone size too. Then:

  • Small wording fixes: use Edit text (the T icon in the edit tools floating at the bottom of the preview) and save. It's free.
  • Anything else, such as a section that should move or a missing image: tell Willo in chat.

4. Make it live

  • Drafting off: the page is already live at your site's address once the rebuild finishes.
  • Drafting on: the page is in the draft. Publish the draft when it's ready.

Pages with data from your database

A page that lists records, such as products or listings, shows them as they were at the last build. If those records change often, ask Willo to load them in the visitor's browser instead. See How your pages are built.

Replacing an old page

If the new page replaces one at a different address, ask Willo to redirect the old address to the new one and remove the old page, in the same request. Visitors and search engines that knew the old address then land on the new one. Setting a redirect stops for your approval.

Many pages at once

When you're planning a new business, the plan card can offer a full site build that builds many pages from your brief in one run.
