Generate and edit images
Ask Willo in chat to make a photo or graphic, or to change, cut out or enlarge an image you have, and what each image costs.
On this page
Willo makes and edits images for your business when you ask in the Willo chat, on every plan including Trial. You need to be an editor, admin or owner of the business.
Make a new image
Say what you want and where it goes:
- "Make a hero photo for the home page: a barista pouring latte art on a walnut counter, morning light."
- "Design a flat illustration of a delivery van in our brand colors for the services page."
- "Give me three options for an Instagram card announcing our autumn hours."
- "Sketch a few logo concepts for a plant shop called Fern & Co."
Willo picks between a photo (realistic scenes) and a graphic (illustration, flat art, social cards, logo concepts), writes the detailed prompt, and uses your brand's colors and style unless you ask it not to. Each image appears in chat as it's made. Generated images are saved in the Assets tab like any upload.
For a common subject, Willo may suggest a royalty-free stock photo first, since a real photo has no generated artefacts. Ask for a generated one and you get one.
Edit an image you have
Attach an image in chat, or name one from the Assets tab, and say what to change:
- Edit: "Put this bottle on a white marble counter, keep the label exactly as it is."
- Remove the background: "Cut out the product in this photo so it has a transparent background."
- Enlarge: "This logo is too small for the header. Upscale it."
An edit makes a new file. Your original stays in the Assets tab unchanged, and Willo tells you when the new version replaces the old one on a page.
Standard or high quality
- High is the default for anything going on your site or into a finished piece. A high-quality image can take a few minutes.
- Standard is quicker and cheaper. Use it to see up to four options at once, then ask for your pick at high quality.
Ask for either by name: "Show me four quick options for the menu page."
What Willo won't make
You decide what goes on your site. Willo makes what you ask for, with at most a line of advice. Placeholder team or premises photos, product concepts, "in the style of" requests and edits to any photo you uploaded, people included, are all fine. Willo reminds you to swap placeholders for real photos before launch.
It declines three things and offers the nearest option instead:
- A new image of a real, identifiable person who didn't supply the photo, such as a celebrity or a named person. A generic person, or an edit of your own photo, works.
- Sexual or intimate imagery of a real person, from any photo.
- Fake proof: a generated face shown as a real reviewer or customer, made-up before-and-after results, or fake certificates, awards, badges, receipts, review screenshots or "as seen in" logos. Willo suggests an initials avatar beside a real quote instead.
Sexual content, anything sexual involving minors, gore and hate symbols are blocked outright.
Credits and the daily limit
Each image is charged in credits by what it costs to make, on top of the chat turn's own work: a fraction of a credit at standard quality, under one credit at high. See Plans for how credits work.
Each business can make up to 40 images a day on a paid plan and 10 a day on Trial. Edits, cutouts and enlargements count too. The count resets at midnight UTC. Ask for more than are left and Willo makes what fits and tells you.
Where it works
Images are made in the Willo chat on the dashboard, when you ask. An instruction sent by email, a task from another agent, and scheduled runs don't generate images. When you're out of credits, or your role is viewer, Willo can't make images until you top up or an editor asks. Willo doesn't generate video.
