Schedule a post
Set a blog post or any content item to publish at a future time from chat, check what is scheduled, and change or cancel a schedule.
On this page
Scheduling publishes an item at a time you choose, with nobody at the keyboard. You set schedules in chat; the Content tab shows them.
1. Get the item ready
Write the item and check it as you would before publishing (see Write and publish a content item). It can be a new draft or a live item with edits waiting.
2. Ask Willo to schedule it
In chat, name the item and the time, with your time zone if there's any doubt:
"Schedule the autumn opening hours post for Saturday 1 November at 9am London time."
Willo confirms the item and the time back to you. Setting a schedule is your confirmation to publish: nothing asks again when it fires.
The item now shows Scheduled in the Content tab.
3. When the time comes
Willo publishes the item within a few minutes of the scheduled time, through the same publish as the button in the Content tab. The status changes to Published.
If the item's fields no longer pass the checks by then (for example, the collection gained a required field), the item is held. It stays Scheduled and publishes as soon as the fields are fixed. To see what needs fixing, open it in the Content tab and click Publish: the problems appear on the fields.
Change or cancel a schedule
- New time: "Move the autumn hours post to Monday at 8am."
- Cancel: "Don't publish the autumn hours post on Saturday." The item goes back to the status it had before.
- Publish now instead: click Publish in the Content tab, or ask in chat.
Good to know
- If your business is drafting when the time comes, the scheduled publish lands on the site draft and waits there until someone publishes the site, however little else is on the draft. For a post that must appear on time, turn drafting off beforehand, or publish the site yourself just after the scheduled time.
- Scheduling one item is not the same as a recurring post. For "write and publish a post every Monday", set up an Agent Program or a roadmap task, and decide whether it may publish on its own: see Who publishes content.
