# When a build or deploy fails

> What to do when your first build seems stuck, a deploy fails, or your site won't load, checked from the deploy outwards before your own connection.

## The first build seems stuck

The first build runs several steps in order, and the site build alone can take five minutes or more.

1. Give it at least 15 minutes from the start.
2. Refresh the page. That reconnects the progress feed; it doesn't restart anything.
3. Ask Willo: "check my deploy status".
4. Ask Willo: "check my infrastructure and repair anything that's missing". It can retry the steps that set up your site and its code.
5. No progress after 30 minutes: contact support from the **?** menu with your business's name.

## A deploy failed

When a rebuild fails, the site keeps serving its last good version, so visitors don't see a broken page. The dashboard says the deploy failed.

- **Ask Willo to look.** "My last deploy failed, can you check why and fix it?" It reads the build's error before changing anything. Most failures after a change are a mistake in that change, which Willo fixes and rebuilds.
- **Try again later** if the error looks temporary, such as a timeout reaching a service.
- **Contact support** if it fails the same way twice and Willo can't fix it.

If the change came from your own AI agent, Willo doesn't start its automatic fix, so the two don't collide over the same files. The agent sees the error and fixes it, or you ask Willo's chat to.

## My site won't load

Check from the site outwards, in this order:

1. **The deploy.** Ask Willo to check the deploy status. A failed first build can leave the starter page showing.
2. **Your domain**, if you connected one. A browser security warning, a parked or forwarding page, or "can't be reached" soon after adding a domain is almost always the domain's setup. Ask Willo to check the domain's status; it names the DNS records in the way.
3. **The DNS records.** Two causes recur: domain forwarding left on at your registrar, and a proxy (such as Cloudflare's orange cloud) in front of the site. Both stop the security certificate from being issued.
4. **Only then, your device.** Try another browser, a private window or another network. Send support the exact address you typed and a screenshot.

## The site loads but shows old data

That isn't a failed deploy. Pages are built ahead of time, so a changed product or price shows after the next rebuild. See [When a site change doesn't show](https://www.willo.ai/docs/troubleshooting/site-changes-not-showing).
