This guide puts one of your own photos on your site, for example a picture of your shop front on the home page. You need to be an editor, admin or owner of the business.

## 1. Choose the image

Use a photo you own or have the right to use. Willo does not generate images.

Any size from a phone or camera is fine: large photos are resized for the web as they upload, and iPhone HEIC photos are converted to JPEG. For a wide banner, pick a landscape photo with the subject near the middle, since the edges may be cropped on narrow screens.

## 2. Upload it

Pick one way.

**Attach it in chat.** Click the **+** in the chat box (or drag the file in, or paste it), then say what you want:

"Use this as the hero image on the home page, behind the headline."

Willo publishes the image and places it in one step. You can attach up to 10 files in one message.

**Upload it in the Assets tab.** Open **Assets** in the left rail and upload the file. It appears in the Images folder with its own permanent address. Then ask Willo in chat, naming the file: "Use shop-front.jpg as the hero image on the home page." Uploading in the Assets tab is the better choice when you're adding several photos to use over time.

## 3. Say where it goes

Be specific about the page and the spot. Some examples:

- "Put team-photo.jpg on the About page, under the first paragraph."
- "Replace the hero image on the home page with this one."
- "Add the menu PDF as a download button on the Menu page."
- "Use the bakery photo as the cover image for the autumn hours blog post."

Every image on your site should have alternative text: a short description for screen readers and search engines. Tell Willo what the picture shows ("our Fulham shop front at opening") so it can write a good one.

## 4. Check it

The change shows up like any other site change:

- **Drafting off:** the live site rebuilds and the image is there within a few minutes.
- **Drafting on:** look at the draft preview on the Site page, then publish when you're happy.

Look at the page on a phone as well as a computer, especially for banners.

## Swap or remove it later

- **Swap:** attach the new image in chat and say which one it replaces.
- **Remove from a page:** ask Willo to take it off. The file stays in the Assets tab.
- **Delete the file:** only after nothing uses it. Deleting a file that's still on a page breaks the image there straight away. If unsure, ask Willo "is this image used anywhere?" first.

> **Note: Images in blog posts.**

> For a blog post, you can also ask Willo to add the image while it writes or edits the post. The post's draft shows it, and it goes live when you publish the post. See [Write and publish a content item](https://www.willo.ai/docs/content/write-and-publish-a-content-item).
